There are many interesting local cultural events cerebrated in December where tourists get to learn about charming local culture.

Let’s start by going north. In this cold weather, it is the perfect time to go out and get in touch with stunning nature. Almost every area of northern is visited by the beautiful mist. Our first stop is “Jim Thompson Farm Festival” in Nakhon Ratchasima. Visitors will be greeted by colorful flowers blooming all over a vast field. The sunflower field and cosmos filed are the highlight of the festival. Both are beautiful and gorgeous as if you just stepped into a dreamland. The scenery is definitely worth a shot! Then, sightsee around a non-chemical farm where vegetables grow happily. Not only you will get to witness beautiful scenery, but you will also learn about local culture of Esan people such as making textile products, growing mulberry trees, raising silk warms, etc. Don’t forget to buy some souvenirs before leaving!

Next, let’s go to Sakon Nakhon and participate in a different kind of Christmas Festival. This is a Thai-style Christmas Festival that merges Christian belief and local belief together into a unique festival, the one and the only in the world called “Star Procession of Christmas Festival”. The star is considered as a symbol of the birth of Lord Jesus. The festival started by a foreign missionary group who taught local people to make a star to decorate their houses during Christmas Festival. Later on, it was merged into a local belief of Esan people who love festival and party and became the Star Procession of Christmas Festival. During the festival, local people participate in a star procession decorated gorgeously. There is a competition to see who makes the most beautiful star. Wandering around the local community to see many beautiful stars that local people decorate their houses with. There is also a walking street full of food vendors and good shops. Enjoy watching local religious show representing Christian belief. It is a great chance to experience Thai-style Christmas Festival that can’t be found anywhere else.
